Why was NEET exam introduced?

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was introduced in India to streamline the medical and dental admissions process in the country. Prior to the introduction of NEET, various states and private medical colleges conducted their own entrance exams, leading to a lot of confusion and inconsistencies in the admission process. NEET is a common entrance test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate medical and dental courses in India.
